About Me
I write picture books, poetry, and middle grade novels. My picture books are often lyrical and inspired by nature, while my middle grade projects lean toward magic and fantasy.
So many aspects of writing appeal to me: the rhythm of language, the sounds of words, the fun and emotion of story. What an honor to help children develop a lifelong love of reading!
I’m a chocolate-eating, chai tea-drinking, yoga-practicing wife and Mom of a high school boy. My Scottish Westie and I walk the Highlands of Pennsylvania each morning. Spending time in nature centers me and sparks my creativity. I'm also a member of SCBWI, Inked Voices, and an active critique group participant.
I graduated with honors from Sweet Briar College, an all-women's liberal arts college in Virginia. I used my English Literature major first as a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in Pediatrics. I read lots of picture books with my language delayed kids! And I pastored a United Methodist congregation.
Interesting facts about me: I begin most days writing (and drinking the aforementioned tea). I went to Space Camp (yes, like the movie). I have earned three Master’s degrees (that's more than any one person actually needs!).
