WORD-POWER POETRY WORKSHOP
Grades 2-8, 50 minutes
Jen will showcase, then encourage identification of some literary devices (such as, alliteration, assonance, consonance, internal rhyme, repetition) used in IN THE PALM OF MY HAND. PLAYING WITH POETRY PROMPTS WORKSHOP
Grades 3-8, 50 minutes

She’ll lead the class in poetry prompt exercises, and finally use the picture book as a springboard for writing their own poems—these can be scaffolded, depending on grade level. This workshop is best for classrooms of up to 30 students with paper and pencils, sitting at desks or tables.
HOW A PICTURE BOOK IS BORN
Grades 2-adult, 45minutes

She’ll also describe the dance between words and illustrations. She’ll include her four keys to making your writing goals… or any of your dreams come true. Ends with a Q&A. This presentation works for classrooms or small assemblies.

Testimonials:
"Jen came into my classroom and presented her book to the students. The students learned about being an author, and how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. It was a great presentation!"

"Jen Raudenbusch gave our classroom of young learners an engaging opportunity when sharing her book, In the Palm of My Hand. The students in my class got a sense of HOW and WHY books are made. Her presentation gave young learners a hands-on opportunity to hear her book read aloud, to hear about how the pictures were made, and how making a book can sometimes take a whole team of people!
Her enthusiasm and silly costume made the whole experience great!"
